POLICIES
HICS ATTENDANCE

HICS musicians are expected to participate in the duration of the season from September thru mid April. Consistent weekly attendance is required to help maintain a high level of quality and commitment from each musician. Students will be expected to attend rehearsals and performances throughout the year at community events.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Students are expected to arrive 5 minutes before class begins. Students are expected to tune their own instruments after arriving. Temperature fluctuations in transit can affect tuning.

Students are expected to bring their own instrument (either on loan or personal) to class.

Students should come to practice weekly, having practiced their assignments regularly at home between classes. Group success is a team effort.

Students are expected to bring their music with them each week.

Students are expected to treat adults and other students with respect at all times.
PARENT SUPPORT & EXPECTATIONS

Parents supply vital support for the HICS program. If at all possible, HICS parents are expected to provide assistance with rehearsals, performances, fundraisers, and other events. Any HICS parent or family member who is eager to become involved in projects or volunteer is encouraged to contact us at hatterasislandcommunitystrings@gmail.com.
HICS parents are expected to print out their child's sheet music. Sheet music can be downloaded here.

HICS maintains an inventory of various stringed instruments for students to choose from. HICS parents are encouraged to either purchase one of these instruments or provide a small donation to 'rent' an instrument for their child. The donation option is available at $5/month through HICS. Please click here to make your tax exempt donation. All donations are used to help fund the HICS program.
